Our main speaker is Terrance Taylor, a speaker and pastor from USA. Each night during the main program, we look forward to Terrance challenging us with God’s Word.
Terrance Taylor was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in one of the most diverse communities in the city which was home to many Native Americans, Asian, Jewish, African American, and Latino families. At the age of 13, he volunteered to work for a community organization which fought to remove and close a liquor store which was located next door to a Native American High School. At that time it was the only liquor store next to a school in the nation. After almost 2 years all the hard work paid off and the liquor store was finally closed. It was after that experience Terrance felt drawn to community work and social activism. After moving to Seattle a few years later, Terrance finished high school in the Seattle area but then attended Walla Walla University. Terrance followed his desire to help people and after graduating begin working as a pastor back in the Seattle area. After a few years, he and his family moved to the Chicago area to complete a Masters degree in Divinity. While attending Andrews University he was able to work with a church on the south-side of Chicago with a desire to bring positive change in one of the most difficult neighborhoods in Chicago. After completing his degree in 2011, he and his family moved here to the Tri-Cities to work as a pastor in East Pasco. He currently pastor of the Ephesus Church and is working with his church to help be a source of support to the community by participating in, and creating programs for better education, crime-prevention, and economic development in East Pasco. Terrance also serves as co-chair of the Pasco Discovery Coalition, which is a grant funded substance abuse prevention organization. He is the grand-nephew of the Civil Rights leader Rosa Parks, and hopes to follow in her footsteps by continuing to fight for the rights of all people but especially those living in impoverished communities.
Alina van Rensberg is the Young Adult Director for the South Queensland Conference. Alina grew up on the Sunshine Coast in QLD, and worked as a Physiotherapist for several years before studying to be a Pastor at Avondale College in 2010. After graduating, she returned to Brisbane where she served as the Chaplain at Brisbane Adventist College for four years before moving into Young Adult Ministry. Alina has a passion for the local Church, and for inspiring and empowering Young Adults to BE the church by living out their faith in their spheres of influence. Alina lives with her bestie (aka her husband, Martin) and loves gelato and travel adventures.
To make Converge affordable for everyone, the planning team has tried to keep the costs as low as possible. To do this they have set an entry cost, with additional packages that you can purchase depending on your needs.
The early bird fee for Converge is $109 AUD, and the regular cost is $159 AUD. The early bird runs out on December 3. This includes site entry, a campsite, and access to all programs onsite. It does not include meals, activities or tents/cabins. To make the event affordable, and also create that festival feel, campsites and tents are the main form of accommodation available.
