Called to Be an Intercessor!
Did you realize that Islam holds the position of being the second-largest religion in Australia, following Christianity? According to the 2021 Census, 813,392 individuals identified themselves as Muslims, comprising 3.2% of Australia’s total population.
As Seventh-day Adventists, we share common ground with our Muslim friends, foremost among which is prayer. Prayer serves as an outward expression of faith directed towards the divine. For instance, during the Islamic month of Ramadan, prayer and fasting take center stage, providing Muslims with an opportunity to seek forgiveness and blessings from the Almighty. Shouldn’t this devotion to prayer resonate with all who believe in God? While our approaches to prayer may differ, earnest prayer is always pleasing to God. As believers, it’s incumbent upon us to pray both for ourselves and others, as articulated in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NLT), which urges prayer for all people, including those in authority, for the sake of peaceful and godly lives.
Given our commission to facilitate reconciliation and intercede for the salvation of others, it stands to reason that we should also pray for our Muslim friends during Ramadan, as they earnestly seek divine favour and guidance.
Starting on 11 March, and continuing for 30 days, let’s unite in prayer for our Muslim friends, asking that God would profoundly meet them during Ramadan and fulfil the desires of their hearts.
